Mon - January 30, 2006Vampire Racing Sea Kayak from KayakPro Vampire. Designed to excel in long distance flat water and ocean racing. Very low resistance at speed in flat water and upwind in waves. Good controllability and surfing speed downwind in waves. Low resistance in shallow, flat water. Length: 21' 1 inches Beam Max: 18 3/4 inches Paddler weight range: 150-225 lb There are three layouts available: fiber glass Club Construction - 41 lb, carbon kevlar, sandwich core Racer Construction - 36.5 lb, carbon kevlar with reinforcement panels Marathon Construction - 22.05 lb. I am looking forward to reviews of this new boat. The first Vampire kayaks were scheduled to arrive to US from a factory in China in early December 2005. In October I got some pictures of the Vampire still in a factory. Gransom Bourne did not really recommend to me the marathon version as too delicate.
