Thunderbolt and Wildwater Racing Kayak in Training on the South Platte River

Great weather in northern Colorado with air temperatures in the mid 50s and a good flow of 800 cfs in the South Platte River today - perfect conditions for a paddle workout: 5 miles upstream starting at Kersey and turning back at the Plumb Ditch Dam.

I was joined by Jeremy in a wildwater racing kayak. In the pictures below you can see him playing below the dam when I had a chance to shoot a few pictures (Camera: Canon EOS 40D). We started paddling in the morning and reached the dam around 11am, so I didn't have a very good light for photography there. I was paddling WSBS Thunderbolt-x.

For the next weekend I am planning a similar upstream/downstream workout, but starting at highway 60 east of Milliken and paddling along Wildcat Mound to the confluence with the St Vrain River. I will post exact time and date of that workout in my training schedule sometime in the middle of the week taking into account the weather forecast.
