... E-caps and endurance race nutrition, paddling workouts, adventure racing sport science

  • There is an interesting discussion on using E-caps products (endurolytes, anti fatique, HEED, tissue rejuvenator, etc.) from Hammer Nutrition in endurance paddling racing like Texas Water Safari or Colorado River 100 on Texas Canoe and Kayak Racing forum. The thread was started by Tommy Yonley, the solo winner of the recent CR-100 race. I am using endurolytes on regular basis in all my long distance paddling.
  • Another training thread is active on rivermiles.com discussion forum following the Missouri River 340 race. You can read about the paddling workout of West Hansen, the race winner and training for downriver races by Chuck and Di.
  • There are numerous new entries to the Virtual Race and I will be adding more during this weekend. The 5 mile race remains the most popular.
  • I have found another adventure racing oriented site from New Zealand: iRule - good articles on paddling, exercise physiology, and training.
This is Sports Science, our e-zine. It is intended as an information resource for guiding your training and racing preparation. Our qualified and experienced contributors cover strength, nutrition, physiology, psychology and gear reviews, along with reflections on racing, recovery and the never ending releases of equipment, event and devices.

iRULE is about maximising your performances in off road racing and enjoying the experience; obviously wearing the best gear, ours is important but so is being prepared.

The content provided is a mix of pure, hard sports science and personal viewpoints presented in a succinct, entertaining and accesible manner.
