Paddling, Training and Racing Blogs - Update

There are not so many blogs devoted to kayak and canoe racing. Of course, many top racers have blogs linked to their general racing websites, but these are often more personal journals or records from racing events (see, e.g., links on

Here is a short list of training and racing related blogs which I visit on a regular basis and waiting for new posts.

  • Peter’s Paddling Blog
by Peter Unold from Denmark. Posts on kayak training and racing, new kayaks, gadgets. Pictures from racing event in Scandinavia, e.g., Tour de Gudenå.
  • Ultra Marathon Paddling
by Heather and Brandon Nelson, ultra-marathon distance kayakers and adventurers. Different perspectives on racing in such events as Yukon River Quest 2006 or Length of the Lake 100 km race.
  • Motionpaddling
Erik Arnström from Sweden: My interest is marathon, touring and sea kayaking. I paddle sea kayak since 1984 and racing since 1990. The site covers techniques, how to sit and trim a kayak, different equipment, my personal opinion about different modells and some news from the canoeing world.. Blog and associated web site are in Swedish. I am trying to translate and read whatever I can.
  • SandyBottom's Sea Kayaking and Kruger Paddling Adventures
by Dawn Stewart aka SandyBottom. Training and racing logs for WaterTribe Challenges including epic 1200 mile Ultimate Florida Challenge.
  • The Purple Mirage Blog
by Susanita: Since most of what I'm doing is kayaking the blog is mostly about kayak trips and kayak racing. But there will also be the occasional posts about hiking, biking, gardening or my cats. Interesting reports from kayak and surfski racing.
  • Rambo's Locker
by Ian (Rambo) Newland from Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia. Outrigger canoe paddling, ocean racing, training knowledge, video.
  • Engineered Athlete Services
