... Colorado River 100 Race, Chicago Shores Marathon, Kaw-lloween Classic, or Virtual

Some incoming marathon kayak and canoe races in Texas and Midwest:
  • Colorado River 100 (CR100), a marathon canoe race & adventure challenge, Bastrop to Columbus, Texas, September 1, 2007. It is the 4th season of this popular race. More than 150 boats entered in solo and tandem competition and adventure classes. The 2007 CR100 Race is sold out. See CR100 forum for news.
  • Chicago Shoreline Marathon, September 8, 2007. A new race on Lake Michigan along the shores of Chicago in three formats: 16 miles 4 person relay, 8 mile short course, and 26 mile marathon race.

The Marathon will start at Calumet Harbor on the far south side of Chicago and run north to Leone Beach (Touhy Avenue) on the north side. Marathon contestants will be required to check in at 63rd Street, 12th Street, North Avenue and Montrose Avenue Beaches. Marathon competitors will be allowed to register a secondary watercraft as a ‘back-up' in case of challenging conditions.

  • Kaw-lloween Classic? After running the 50 mile Kansas River "Gritty Fitty" Race and the 2nd Missouri River 340 Race, RivierMiles.com is suggesting an easy fall race on the Kansas River - 35 miles from Lawrence to Edwardsville, no portages, low water likely, tentatively scheduled for October 20th.
  • If you cannot participate in the above races you can always enter the Virtual Race without leaving your local paddling waters.
