Colorado River Race - Dotsero to Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon

Glenwood Canyon The annual Canoe Colorado race will take place on Sunday, August 20, 2006.
This is a fun race through the calm section of Glenwood Canyon. There are classes for canoes and sea kayaks.

Entry fees are $10 per person.

We will add $100 per class, in addition to the entry fees for the cash prizes. Prizes are split 50-30-20 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

There is also a drawing at the end of the race, open to all race participants for over $500 in merchandise. So no matter if you win your class, you still have a good chance of winning something.

Registration will open about 7:00am at Dotsero landing, shuttle leaving around 8:00 or so, the race starts at 9:00 am.

For more information contact Eric Nyre at Canoe Colorado.

I have posted race results and pictures from the years of 2002, 2004, and 2005 when I participated in the race with my CLC Patuxent 19.5 kayak, and Sisson Nucleus 100 kayak. I will probably paddle the Sisson kayak this year again. You can find the race results since 1984 and more pictures on Jerry Nolans's web site .

Last year, there were only 7 boats racing. I hope that this year more boats will show up and the Dotsero race will not disappear.
