Sat - December 24, 2005Rowing Canoe and Rainmaker Thunderbolt in Virtual Race I got two entries into the 5 mile
virtual race in December. They may be the last entries in this year,
but, immediately, we will open 2006 racing
season.
The first one by Frank Ladd from Northern Carolina is somewhat unusual: a rowing canoe. The second one by Axel Thomsen from Texas is in Rainmaker Thunderbolt (not be confused with the WSBS Thunderbolt ). That Thunderbolt is a hybrid boat designed for Texas Water Safari: open cockpit, relatively high seat, rudder. It's potentially faster but more tippy than my Spencer X-treme. I made a few pictures of Erin Magee in her Rainmaker Thunderbolt at the start of this year Texas Water Safari. I've learned that Jack Spencer is building a new solo safari boat. It will be 21'x17" at waterline and will flare to 22.5" above the waterline, basically, a surfski with X-treme characteristics for stability and comfort. Spencer Thunderbolt?
