Sisson Nucleus 100 in the Virtual Race

sisson nucleus 100
After 700 miles paddled in my Sea Wind canoe in Ultimate Florida Challenge, I had finally a chance to play with my Sisson Nucleus kayak and wing paddle during last weekend. Well, it wasn't easy to go paddling. During my long Florida paddling my wife attempted to clean our garage. I spent a lot of time searching for my kayak stuff ...

My Beaver Pond is not so scenic or exotic as Florida, but it feels good to be home. Spring is just starting here. Geese and black birds look so familiar. Last time I paddled on Beaver Pond I had to use Sea Wind as an icebreaker.

On Saturday I played with Pentax Optio WP camera trying to get some pictures to illustrate my new post 10 Tips on Shooting Pictures without Viewfinder. The water was not clear enough for any underwater or partially submerged shots.

On Saturday I run a 5 mile time trial for the virtual race. 5 loops with some wind and light chop: 00:49:05 or 6.11 mph - not so bad for the season beginning.

I am still not decided which boat to paddle in the South Platte River Marathon. The Sisson is more fun to paddle, but my safari boat is faster, especially, on portages. It would be nice to develop a portaging technique like Nic Riosa, but it's not possible in the case of the Sisson's small cockpit.
