Wed - April 12, 2006Virtual Racers: Brint Adams (Seda Glider) Brint
Adams: I am an avid paddler and racer,
presently living in Spanish Fort, AL, but soon to move to the Orlando, FL area.
I started paddling six years ago, to train for an eco triathlon and some
adventure races in E. Tennessee, which included kayak components. My backgroung
includes 20 yrs. of roadracing, including 18 marathons - 3 at Boston, 2 yrs.
adventure racing and 3 yrs. kayak
racing.
Once we moved to lower Alabama in early 2003, I became active in the Mobile Bay Canoe & Kayak Club - and until recently was the club webmaster. I have raced in some local, minor 1-2 mile events as well as twice done the Phatwater Kayak Challenge (45 miles on the Mississippi River) - and the BiYak Biathlon once. More recently, I joined the Florida Competition Paddlers Association - and raced with them on the Suwanee and Wacissa Rivers, both about 12 mile races. Now that I am relocating to Central Florida, I will live near many more of their events and will add to my race schedule. Coming up on 4/22/06, I will race the BluzCruz (22 miles on the Mississippi River). I currently train and race in a Seda Glider 19' kevlar and use an Epic wing single piece with a 60 degree feather. I am looking into upgrading to something faster for some flatwater events. In addition to racing and training, I lead more leisurely day and overnight club trips into the Mobile Tensaw Delta, area rivers and in the Gulf to nearby barrier islands.
