GPS Photo Log from the Missouri River 340 Race using Google Maps API

I have just finished a GPS photo log covering 78:32 hours I spent on the river during the Missouri River 340 Race. This is a first prototype, I will be making some changes and adding more information.

The race log was created by combining information from a GPS track with pictures shot during the race by me with Pentax Optio W10 camera, and by my wife Connie with Canon PowerShot S40.

I was using Garmin gpsmap 76cs. That device died after some wet days on the Suwanne River during my cross Florida paddling in March. However, after drying up, it works fine again, but this time I was carrying it a waterproof case and I had my old reliable Garmin Etrex Vista as a backup.

I was using lithium batteries for my GPS and I had to change batteries only twice. It was really good performance. I was turning GPS off for any longer stop. I had to replace a battery in Pentax Optio W10 just once.

The Google map setup is based on examples provided online in Google Maps API Tutorial by Mike Williams.

Please let me know if you find any technical problems with the race log or any broken links. I also welcome any more general comments on this way of presenting reports from paddling trips, expeditions, and races.
