Sun - January 29, 200610 Challengers Will Paddle 1200 Miles Around Florida There
are 10 confirmed racers in the WaterTribe Florida Ultimate Challenge.
They will start the race on March 4th at Fort Desoto in Tampa Bay together with Everglades Challenge and Ultra Marathon racers and proceed south along west Florida Coast to Key Largo. The second stage will take them north along Atlantic Florida coast to Sebastian Inlet. The third stage will continue along east coast to Fort Clinch. They will leave Atlantic Ocean to paddle upstream of St Mary River to St George. The challengers will portage 40 miles to Fargo on the upper Sawannee River and go downriver to Gulf of Mexico and Cedar Key. They will proceed south to finish the Challenge in Fort Desoto not later than the April 2nd. There are 5 challengers in class 1 (kayaks and canoes with a limited downwind sail only), 4 challengers in class 3 (kayak and canoe with upwind sails and/or outgriggers) and 1 challenger in class 4 (small sailboat). See WaterTribe pages for definition of boat classes and race rules. Half of challengers will be paddling Kruger's boats (Sea Wind or Dreamcatcher). There are only solo entries to this race. The information about 10 UFC challengers presented below is mostly extracted from WaterTribe challenge rosters and previous challenges results. Additional information and links to website were added where available (EC - Everglades Challenge, LM - Lake Michigan Challenge, OC - Okeefenokee Challenge, CFC - Cross Florida Challenge).
