First Ice on Deck This Fall - Paddling Surfrigger Canoe

paddling Surfrigger I paddled Surfrigger, my outrigger canoe for a tonight workout. It was only my third time with Surfrigger this year, so paddling was pretty slow, typically around 5.5 mph. Of course, I didn't neglect photography, although, the sky was not very interesting at sunset . Paddling Sisson kayak I can easily elevate my hear rate above 150, while with Surfrigger I didn't go much higher than 130. I guess I am in a much better condition to use a kayak paddle.

I used my long distance paddle - light power surge by Zaveral. This paddle is only 7.5' wide. I was doing some unscientific comparison between this paddle and my regular 8.5" wide Zaveral light one. The regular Zaveral was almost 0.5 mph faster when paddling the X-treme canoe, my safari boat.

When I finished my paddling about half hour after sunset the deck of Surfrigger was covered with a thin ice. The fIrst ice on deck this fall! The air temperature was at that time around 35F.

GPS trip odometer: 6.2 miles, moving time 1:22h, stopping time 0:05h, moving average speed 4.5 mph, max speed 6.3 mph.
