Invest in Your Health! Paddling?
Endurance events or even any training longer than 90 minutes are not exactly healthy. However, if your annual endurance race keeps you motivated, training, and in shape for the entire year I believe that the health balance is positive. Nevertheless, during recent years I am more focused on a healthy lifestyle, cross training and recovery methods than endurance training.
If you are a marathon paddler and racer I would really recommend to explore books by Ben Greenfield, especially, Beyond Training: Mastering Endurance, Health & Life.
