In late November of 2023, I made a quick trip from Colorado to Florida and back. As a result, I added the Literace 1x, a coastal rowing shell by Liteboat, to my fleet. My ultimate goal is to participate in long-distance rowing and races like the Missouri River 340.
Literace 1x coastal rowing shell
The LiteRace 1X was designed for coastal rowing competition. Narrow and stable, it’s designed for all types of seas, and it is very enjoyable on calm waters thanks to its exceptional glide. This model is the latest new design by Sam Manuard. The LiteRace 1X (2017) holds the best course in the up-winds, being stiffer than the original version that has sold over 80 boats. The rigidity was increased by the addition of reinforcements and carbon bulkheads. The weight of this boat is around 77 lbs to fit World Rowing Race standards.
Rowing or paddling in northern Colorado during winter can be challenging, but it’s not impossible. I started rowing immediately in December on Horsetooth Reservoir and later on Carter Lake, which remained ice-free last winter. In spring, I moved my rowing activities to Boyd Lake. However, my training didn’t go as expected due to back problems and other health issues. Despite these setbacks, I am making progress, though I am still limited to short rowing sessions of about 4-5 miles. On the bright side, I’ve been taking plenty of pictures and videos. I’m experimenting with different setups for a rowing mirror and camera pole and testing various options for solo car topping this 77 lb boat.
Rowing videos
The rowing playlist on my FitOver67 youtube channel is growing. You are welcome to check my recent videos. As usual I am adding selected images and video clips to my stock photography portfolio. They are available for licensing as royalty free from Adobe Stock and other online agencies.
Of course, I wonder if there are any other Liteboats or similar coastal rowing shells in Colorado or vicinity.
