The South Platte River is pretty popular among paddlers during winter and spring. We are trying to do upstream/downstream paddling workout every weekend (usually Sunday, 2pm). Contact me if you are interested to join our group. There are some easy down river trips coming in March and April.
Like in recent year, I am running two informal races: 9 miles upstream and a month later, the 31 mile South Platte River Marathon. These are unofficial and unorganized race, so your are totally responsible for what are you doing on the river. There are no entry fees and no awards, just fun. You need to record your racing time. Slower paddlers can start earlier. My wife, Connie, will help us with shuttling during the Marathon. If water is really low we can run the Marathon on shorter course from Evans to Kuner.
